Shou Sugi Ban Board - gloss spar urethane finish (processing time - 3 weeks)

Details:
These pine boards have been deeply burned and resurfaced to dramatically reveal their natural wood grain texture and wood grain appearance. They are sealed with clear gloss spar urethane. Spar urethane is a UV protective, exterior/interior, highly durable finish that provides years of protection in all sorts of environments. It is an oil based product that enhances the wood's fibers with a lustrous shimmer, an optical appearance known as chatoyance, along it's smoothed but 3D grain. It truly is a beauty I can't quite capture in a photo.
These boards would be perfect for indoor or outdoor shelves or tables. They would be beautiful around windows or doors as a high end trim. They could be used as a rustic but elegant tub shelf, or a fancy but earthy plant stand. They would make a great outdoor bar or counter top because of it's uv protection and easy to clean glossy smoothed finish. It does have grooves where the hard grain is raised so I recommend using a rag instead of a sponge to quickly wipe up messes in the tighter grooves. These boards can be used anywhere and can fit into any style due to their high end character, solid wood strength, and durable indoor/outdoor glossy finish.
Finish:
These boards are finished in gloss sheen. I also have satin spar urethane available if you prefer satin. Just keep in mind that satin doesn't bring out it's shimmer appearance I mentioned above quite the same way that the gloss does. To make this change, contact me before or at the same time that you place your order.
Maintenance:
While spar urethane provides great protection and longer life expectancy for wood in outdoor elements vs interior finishes, it will still eventually need maintenance. Just like all outdoor wood furniture, maintenance is required to keep it in it's most tip top condition. If you see that the finish is beginning to age, a light 220 grit sanding and a new layer of spar urethane will bring it back to it's original luster and reprotect it for continuous outdoor use. Using a flexible sanding pad or a sanding brush is recommended to easily reach into the grooves to provide adequate adhesion of the urethane. Applying the oil based spar urethane with a natural bristle brush will give you the best results. These 3 things can be found at most hardware stores.

I make a lot of furniture using these boards and 3/4" industrial pipe and fittings. Shipping and Insurance:
You will be notified once your order has shipped. Every order shipped from my store is sent with a tracking number and is covered by postal carrier insurance.
It is the buyer's responsibility to ensure that the recipient's address is correct and that the delivery location is safe and secure because your item is only insured until it is successfully delivered to the address given. Postal carrier insurance covers packages lost while in their possession during the shipping process or damages made during their shipping process, but it does not cover packages stolen after successful delivery.

If you need a width or length that is in between the measurements listed above, choose the size that is closest to what you need. Before or as soon as you place your order, send me your exact measurements through one of the contact forms above. If you need a thin or narrower board than what is listed above, message me before placing your order so I can make sure that your LxWxH measurements are compatible with this heavy burn process that creates their appearance. If your LxWxH measurements are not compatible with this heavy burn process then a light burn can be accomplished, message me for details or for pictures of what a light burn will look like.
If you need a board thicker than 1.25 inch (for example a 4x4 post or similar) contact me and we can discuss a more specific quote that fits your needs.
Cedar boards/posts are also available for this application at an additional cost. Message me for a quote.
Sealed "gator boards" are also available, in pine only, message me for more details about this option.
